Easter

This was Derek's first Easter. The Easter bunny did come and left a simple Easter basket. It had a book book in Spanish, gold fish crackers, a new shirt, and bubbles.

He loves the baby book and the bubbles were a big hit!

You see how close to the edgeof the table he is, Oh my!! What were we thinking!

We spent Easter at grandma and grandpa's house and had a wonderful Easter dinner.

Unfortunately we didn't have an Easter Egg Hunt, but we did have a fun pinata. It made it really fun for the kids. Derek isn't old enough to look and find eggs so I wasn't to bummed that we didn't have  an egg hunt.

Happy Birthday Cameron!

We celebrated Cameron's birthday twice. First at my sisters Priscilla's place out in Van Nuys. Priscilla's birthday is on the 7th and Cameron's on the 8th. 

I made a cake for them both. It was simple but yummy, though I made it too big. We had too much left.

 Then on his actual birthday we celebrated easter and Cameron's, our nephew adam's, and his grandma Jan's birthday. We have lots of birthdays in April. Adam turned one this year.

 I made Cameron a triple chocolate cake with recess peanut butter cups chopped up on the frosting, it was very yummy!

He got some fun presents from everyone!

Texas Trip

Derek and I had a chance to visit my mom's family in El Paso, Texas last week, for a whole five days. It was a hard trip being away from Cameron and from our beds but I was glad Derek and I got to see them. I hadn't seen them in 5 years, and this was Derek's first time meeting most of my mom's family and they just loved him, Derek smiled the whole time and didn't even cry when we gave him to someone whom he didn't know. He had a great time, except for the drive, fourteen hour drives aren't fun, expecially for the a baby who already does not like car rides.

 Here he is with my grandpa. Every time I handed him over to my grandpa, Derek would start jumping, waiting for great-grandpa to sing as he's "dancing."

My wonderful grandma, who is getting old and is hard of hearing but she's still so energetic and awesome with kids, I thought my mom had the magic touch with Derek, but she is one-of-a-kind when it comes to soothing babies.

Goodbye Grandpa Campbell

Grandpa Campbell just passed away last night. He will be missed. We are so glad Derek was able to meet him. We love you Grandpa!

I'm back for now

We are finally done with our quick Winter classes. They were so time consuming for the both of us. Lab hours kept us so busy. Now hopefully I will have more time to blog. While Cameron starts Spring semester this week, I get to relax for a little bit...

Six Months

Derek is now six months as of Sunday. So we're a little late.

We can't believe 6 months have gone by. It's going by too quick, for he is growing too fast.

A few things about him at this age:

-He has started teething and it hasn't been a pleasant time. It interferes with his sleeping routines. We'll be glad when those cute teeth are finally in. His smile we'll be ten times better!

As you can see in this picture he's starting to refuse his food, since his gums are aching.

-He likes apples and carrots so far.

-He chews on everything.

-He wears size 6-9 month clothes.

-Derek does not like to be on his tummy. Whenever we do put him on his tummy, he rolls over. He will also roll over from his back to his tummy but will go back on his back right away.

-Derek loves to greet daddy when he gets home from work.

-He loves drinking water from his sippy cup.

-His eyes can look from brown to green to gray to blue. But they are mostly brown.

-He loves to go out side and watch the dogs play with each other. He especially likes when they lick his hands, which I don't like- I hurry to wash his hands right after.

-He screams so much all the time, sometimes Cameron and I can't hear each other over his screaming. But he loves to play with voice and we love to hear it. He screams the loudest before bath time, he just gets too excited.

-Derek loves to ride in his stroller, even if it's just to run an errand, but he doesn't like the car seat. He loves to go on walks.

-He's almost able to sit on his own. Here he sat on his own for about 15 seconds.

-He doesn't really like his swing anymore.

-Derek weighs 14 lbs 14 ounces.

-He still loves his binkies. We love binky smiles :)

-I like how when anyone else holds him while I'm around, when he hears me talk he just has to look around for his mommy. I love that he knows my voice and daddy's too.

-He's beginning to make a cute shy move. He will smile at anyone but face away right after, like he doesn't want them to look at him, it's so cute.

-He pulls off his socks all the time now.

-He's ticklish on his knees just like daddy is.

-We finally don't use burp rags as much anymore. Can't wait till we don't have to at all anymore, sit up has probably been the hardest to deal with.

-He's learning to just deal with car rides by falling asleep. Which is way better than crying.

This is all we can think about at this moment. Derek's been such a blessing to us!
