Derek's First Halloween

We had very fun Halloween activities this year, it was exciting to have a little someone to dress up for Halloween. Derek looked so cute in his pumpkin costume! We had a blast giving out candy this year!

From Newborn to Infant

Derek is now 3 months old

He's just growing and growing everyday

He loves to see his parents first thing in the morning (he smiles as soon as he sees one of us)

Loves binkies, (not happy about that, though he does look very cute when he's sucking on one)

His eyes are more brown than blue, but are not yet as dark as mine.

I love that he has to hold on to my collar when his eating :)

He doesn't just laugh when tickled -he now also laughs when something is funny to him like Cameron's famous Donald Duck voice or my happy songs that require clapping.

I love how much he stretches, it is so cute watching him stretch his whole body.

He talks all the time now, especially when I play the piano as if he's singing.

He's slept for 7 hours straight (only waking up once through the night) for a few nights now.

He still fits in size 1 diapers.

He wears size 3 month clothes.

He's constantly trying to get his whole fist in his mouth.

He grabbed a toy for the first time Sunday Oct 9.

Loves when I read him books (Dr. Suess is all we have for now)

Bathtime is his favorite time of the day!

He's so light skinned! I don't really notice how light his skin is until my mom holds him..lol.

He got his 3 month old pictures taken the other day (will be posting them later) THANKS DARCY!!

He's very ticklish!

His legs are getting chubby. LOVE IT!!

He's had the same bed time routine since 2 months and 1 week, and it's working pretty good. His morning routine is still a mess, so I need to work on that one.

It's fun to see his personality show more and more everyday.

He's really close to rolling over.

Sometimes he laughs when I use a Nasal Aspirator on him.

He doesn't really like tummy time while he's awake but loves it while sleeping (he'll take super long naps on his tummy ;)

We just love him to pieces!

It's been an amazing 3 months.

Can't wait for more milestones to come!

5K Run

I ran my first 5k this year on Oct 1st. I finished 4th place within my category at 30:37. Last year at the same 5k run I finished 7th at 28:27. As I was "training" I only got to up to running 2 miles so this was my first time running 3.2 miles straight (so not too shabby!)

Two Months

Derek is two months today, I feel like we've had him for much longer. We've been learning what he likes and what he doesn't like, it's so mcuh fun getting to know our son!

-He is so much bigger now, everytime people see him the first thing they mention is how much bigger he looks.

- Like I said in the last post, he smiles all the time, but I still can't get enough of it!

- He loves to hear Daddy's voice!

-Derek loves to hear mommy sing primary songs in spanish, even though she's a horrible singer.

-He doesn't like car rides at all! It's a bummer!

-He now looks at the pictures in the book as we read to him.

-He has to have a blanket touching his face in order to sleep, I think that's so cute!!

-I loves to sleep on his sides.



-He started smiling at 5 1/2 weeks and cooing at 7 1/2 weeks.



- He still loves bath time.



- Bad news: he's got a hernia :(



- He's got a birthmark on the side of his nose, though it's fading.



-I hope Cameron and I are doing a good job at parenting. We sure like it!

Just a Quick Post

I need to remember to update this a little more often. New things going on are:

-I started school again this Fall, I'm only taking one class ( I don't like to be away from Derek, but my sweet mom has been watching him for me), the class meets only once a week for 2 1/2 hrs... so not too bad.

- Derek does take the bottle pretty good, but it makes me sad whenever I think of him drinking from a bottle.

-Cameron started school as well. He's taking a CNC class, but it's bummer that his class meets on Saturdays only for 8 hours!

-Derek weighs 10 lbs 12 oz, measures 22 1/2 in now.

- I'm running again, and it feels so good!! I'm signing up for a 5K on Oct 1st, and it's not enough time to train but who cares?

- Derek smiles so much now.

- Derek doesn't sleep through the night but he knows it is night time, for he'll only wake up to change, feed and burp, and goes right back to sleep. He used to wake up for hours.

- It's so hard to keep the house clean these days.

-Derek loves to hear my piano-playing :)

- and we just love being parents!

It's Already Been a Month!

Our little Derek is a month old today, I can't believe how fast time has gone by. He's getting bigger quickly. At one of my baby showers, people wrote down advice on diapers for me to read as I change Derek's diapers and one of them said, "Enjoy every moment with him, they grow too fast." I try to remember that when I'm really tired at night and he's fussy. Time will fly and he will only be like this for a short time, this is when I can snuggle up with him and kiss him as much as I want. He truly is growing fast, it's only been a month but he already seems so much bigger. These are some of the pictures we got of him today on his month mark.

He smiles now and is just starting cooing, we love it!

This is a blurry picture but this is one of the only smiling pictures we have of him.

He's so adorable! At this point his eyes are still blue, his hands look more like his daddy's, wears size 1 diapers, is growing out of his newborn clothes and loves bath time!
