Six Months

Derek is now six months as of Sunday. So we're a little late.
We can't believe 6 months have gone by. It's going by too quick, for he is growing too fast.
A few things about him at this age:

-He has started teething and it hasn't been a pleasant time. It interferes with his sleeping routines. We'll be glad when those cute teeth are finally in. His smile we'll be ten times better!
As you can see in this picture he's starting to refuse his food, since his gums are aching.

-He likes apples and carrots so far.

-He chews on everything.

-He wears size 6-9 month clothes.

-Derek does not like to be on his tummy. Whenever we do put him on his tummy, he rolls over. He will also roll over from his back to his tummy but will go back on his back right away.

-Derek loves to greet daddy when he gets home from work.

-He loves drinking water from his sippy cup.

-His eyes can look from brown to green to gray to blue. But they are mostly brown.

-He loves to go out side and watch the dogs play with each other. He especially likes when they lick his hands, which I don't like- I hurry to wash his hands right after.

-He screams so much all the time, sometimes Cameron and I can't hear each other over his screaming. But he loves to play with voice and we love to hear it. He screams the loudest before bath time, he just gets too excited.

-Derek loves to ride in his stroller, even if it's just to run an errand, but he doesn't like the car seat. He loves to go on walks.

-He's almost able to sit on his own. Here he sat on his own for about 15 seconds.

-He doesn't really like his swing anymore.

-Derek weighs 14 lbs 14 ounces.

-He still loves his binkies. We love binky smiles :)

-I like how when anyone else holds him while I'm around, when he hears me talk he just has to look around for his mommy. I love that he knows my voice and daddy's too.

-He's beginning to make a cute shy move. He will smile at anyone but face away right after, like he doesn't want them to look at him, it's so cute.

-He pulls off his socks all the time now.

-He's ticklish on his knees just like daddy is.

-We finally don't use burp rags as much anymore. Can't wait till we don't have to at all anymore, sit up has probably been the hardest to deal with.

-He's learning to just deal with car rides by falling asleep. Which is way better than crying.

This is all we can think about at this moment. Derek's been such a blessing to us!

Derek's First Christmas

Christmas morning was rushed but fun, we were just so focused and excited for Derek's first Christmas! This Christmas meant a lot more for us as we had our son to share it with.

This is his first look at his gift from Santa.

Does he look happy or what?

He got so many toys!

After opening gifts we had to rush and get ready for 9:00 o'clock church, for we weren't going to miss it.
Me and gorgeous son!

The best boys in the world! They are everything to me.

Right after church we had to leave as soon as possible and drive down to St. George. Derek fell asleep holding his new toy, his was still griping it so hard.

While in St. George we visited with Aunt Dixie and Uncle Randy for a yummy dinner, and then we went to Grandma and Grandpa Campbell's home and visited with them, Aunt Jenny and Alex. I decided to take a picture of all the Campbell men. We were looking through some old pictures, and found one of my father-in-law... and suprisingly Derek looks just like him, we couldn't believe it, Grandpa was so proud!

So our Christmas was rushed, but we got to spend it with lots of family. We were glad Derek got to meet some members of Cameron's family that he hadn't seen before.

Christmas Eve

So we want to keep the PJs on Christmas Eve tradition in our new family. So Derek got to open his first gift on Christmas Eve. He just loved tearing the gift wrap, and of course he wanted to eat it too.

He was so excited!
Here's our Family on Christmas Eve

This is after we put his cute PJs on. He was just so tired and ready for bed :) I think this is a funny picture.

Temple Square

We took a last minute trip to West Jordan to spend Christmas with Cameron's sister Erin and her family. Spending Christmas in Utah was not part of the plan this year so we thought this was a crazy idea to just take off like that, but we soon realized we had made a good decision. Once there, we decided to go to Temple Square to see the lights. It was so beautiful and really cold! Since this was a rushed trip we really weren't ready for the weather, but we had a blast!
This is where the manger scene was. It was amazing.

The trees were just unbelievable.

Derek was all bundled up, all you could see were his eyes.

He ended up falling asleep, too bad he wouldn't remember this anyway.

After visiting Temple Square Mom and Dad took us out to dinner and this was Derek's first time he sat in a high chair at a restaurant. (We don't go out to eat much)
